In this case, Timothy is a name of Greek origin that means &#8220;<\/span><b>he who has love for God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And this gives us an idea of the transcendence that his figure has in Christianity, because <\/span><b>all Christians love God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and we learn day by day from the sacred texts. Thus, it is interesting to read the letters to Timothy as if they were addressed to you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_was_Timothy_in_the_Bible\"><\/span><b>Who was Timothy in the Bible<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although he is not well known, <\/span><b>Timothy of Ephesus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was the most valued disciple of Paul of Tarsus, or as he is known to Catholics, St. Paul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He lived with him for most of his life, including all the persecutions and tortures he suffered, as well as his missions to evangelize and teach the Word of God to the early Christians. <\/span><b>the first Christians<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of mankind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is mentioned 6 times in the New Testament book of the <\/span><b>Acts of the Apostles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which narrates the life of Jesus&#8217; apostles after his death and the spread of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, where Timothy is mentioned most often is in the <\/span><b>Pauline epistles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a total of 18 occasions, in addition to having two epistles addressed to him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is therefore a very important biblical, <\/span><b>very important biblical character, <\/b>although<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0it is not always given the prominence it requires. In this article, we want to show you its transcendence so that you can identify with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Context_of_2_Timothy_3\"><\/span><b>Context of 2 Timothy 3<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to analyse chapter 2 Timothy 3, first we believe it is necessary to situate this chapter in the Bible and in history, so that you can locate it better and understand more things about it. <\/span><b>Understand more of the things<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of what is being talked about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As far as the biblical context is concerned, you can find the Second Epistle of Paul to Timothy after the first one, right after the epistles to the Thessalonians; all within the <\/span><b>block of Pauline epistles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the New Testament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With these epistles, Paul taught the Word of God to the first Christians in different cities such as <\/span><b>Rome or Corinth, among<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> many others. However, there are also others dedicated to his disciples, such as Timothy or Titus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The historical context of all these letters is set in the ancient era, in the mid to late <\/span><b>first century A.D. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at a time when Jesus was no longer alive in his human form and Christians were persecuted for their beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Romans were largely the instigators of these persecutions, because with the rise of their empire, the<\/span><b>\u00a0rise of their empire<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Jerusalem itself, and they could not allow God&#8217;s power to eclipse their own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, these are the last episodes narrated in the Bible, all of them written by Jesus&#8217; disciples. <\/span><b>Written by the disciples of Jesus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and that, after the death of all of them, the writings of the New Testament were concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After this period of confusion and persecution, <\/span><b>Christianity was accepted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Romans and many of them converted to it. As you can see, what it says has not changed much two thousand years later, and its teachings are valid today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now then, we are going to analyze more deeply the verses of the epistle, trying to get the most out of it so that you too can explain it and share it with whoever you want. <\/span><b>Share it with whomever you want<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Evil_present_and_future_2_Timothy_3_1-5\"><\/span><b>Evil, present and future (2 Timothy 3:1-5)<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The card begins with a clear warning: in the future you will meet people who wish you ill or, who are simply selfish and <\/span><b>act for their own good <\/b>forgetting<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0about others and causing a lot of harm with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paul uses a series of adjectives to describe the wickedness of the world, because it can take many different forms and it is important to know how to identify them. <\/span><b>And it is good to know how to identify them. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also useful to be able to correct oneself when one loses one&#8217;s way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But there is something much more dangerous in all of this: evil can come <\/span><b>presented as goodness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. There are people who only want evil and who appear to be pious only to deceive and make a profit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, with this notice Paul wants to help the reader, <\/span><b>to help you<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so that you may be careful and always use the Word of God to distinguish good from evil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_evil_enters_the_house_2_Timothy_3_6-9\"><\/span><b>When evil enters the house (2 Timothy 3:6-9)<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These verses, which follow the previous warning, indicate just how dangerous evil is when it gets <\/span><b>entered your home<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and manipulate the weakest who are only looking for a way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubibliaonline.com\/en\/redeemed-biblical-meaning\/\">redeem<\/a> themselves and be happy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this analogy about home, Paul is referring to you, <\/span><b>to your own self. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We Christians are aware of our sinful condition and in moments of weakness, anyone can be tempted to turn away from God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many <\/span><b>false leaders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will appear in your life, and it is important to remain faithful to God.
